Before you start the course, I would highly recommend you head over to vte.cert.org and do as much pre-class work as possible. You can get a free account with them using your .mil address.
Quick tips for preparing for the exam:
- 5-5-2 rule- Do not spend more than 5 min researching any one topic (ask instructor for help at this point), Do not spend more than 5 min studying any topic, and if you need more than 2 sentences to describe any of these concepts, you are digging too deep. This exam expects that you have surface level knowledge on a large number of topics, not to be a technical expert in a very few.
- Word association is key- Many of the test questions will be designed to trick you, or get you to second guess yourself. Know your word association and trust what you know.
- Acronyms will make or break you- As with any technical course, acronyms are in heavy rotation. I am working on putting together and posting an acronym quick reference guide for you, but in the mean time, be sure you know ALL of them.
Chapters 1-5 of Network+ do not work.
